The Lahore Fort is also popularly known as Shahi Qila. It was built during 1556-1605 by the great Mughal ruler Akbar. After his rule, all subsequent rulers added something or the other to maintain its charm. It was even upgraded by Sikh rulers and Britishers during their rule in Lahore.
Lahore Fort has two gates, Alamgiri Gate and the Maseeti Gate. Visitors can only visit through Alamgiri Gate as Maseeti Gate is always closed. You can also visit various sites inside the fort which are, Moti Masjid, Naulakha Pavilion, Royal Kitchen and Sheesh Mahal.
The Shalimar Gardens was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1641. The construction of the Gardens was inspired by five different regions in Asia, namely Kashmir, Central Asia, Western Punjab, Persia, and Delhi.
