The Shalimar Gardens was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1641. The construction of the Gardens was inspired by five different regions in Asia, namely Kashmir, Central Asia, Western Punjab, Persia, and Delhi. It spreads around lavishly over 80 acres of land surrounded by walls. In the middle, there are three terraces connected with a water body. The marble work displayed on the walls and around is truly fantastic and the views are a treat to the eyes.
